May 8th marks the end of the Battle of the Atlantic, the longest continuous battle of WWII. This was a defining effort by the Royal Canadian Navy, initiating from September 1939 until the end of the war.
This effort propelled the RCN to becoming the fourth-largest Naval fleet globally through a massive shipbuilding and recruitment campaign throughout WWII.
